Fibre Content 2014
Juried Exhibition of Fibre Art at the Art Gallery of Burlington
The 2014 Fibre Content was another powerful opportunity to view and make a personal connection with the patterns and passion expressed in fibre art. This collaborative effort included Studio Art Quilts Associates (SAQA) – Central Canada, Burlington Fibre Arts, Burlington Handweavers & Spinners Guild, Burlington Hooking Craft Guild, Connections Fibre Artists, Grand Guild of Fibre Artists, Group of Eight Fibre Artists and Oakville Fibre Artists.
Jurors’ Choice
Virginia Eichhorn’s choice was Paisley City Roller Mill by Bev White, Sandra Dupret selected Sunset on Lake Huron by Sharron Deacon Begg, and Emma Quin’s choice was Settling by Micaela Fitzsimmons.
Viewers’ Choice Awards
An overwhelming response for First Place was Tracey Lawko’s amazing work Windswept Snow. Both Second and Third places were collaboration works: Laurentian Foothills by twenty SAQA artists and Seven Create by Northern Ontario Fibre Artists, respectively.
Viewers’ Choice Notable Mentions
Notable mentions went to: 4th place – I Gotta Crow by Al Cote, 5th place – Shadow Play by Nancy Yule, and tied for 6th place – Dawn ’til Dusk by Toni Major and Welsh Poppies by Anne Solomon.
