When a Tree Falls

This piece was inspired by a trip to Stanley Park in Vancouver. Though several grand old trees had fallen new growth had begun and natures life cycles were apparent.

I am drawn to work in textiles because it is complex, and messy, and fun. Just like life. I love the chemistry and serendipity of dyeing fabric, and the challenge of improving on those fabrics with further surface design. It is thrilling to see those fabrics come together to build one of my designs, and then ultimately to add the final layer of stitch.
